Decided to try out the new 13X11 X35 coil for the Deus yesterday. Went to a site I have hunted quite a bit the past 2 years to try it out, site was active from mid 1700s - early 1900s. I will say I am quite impressed with the new coil, with the x35 capabilities even a large coil like this works very well in an iron patch depending on what settings you are using. My first signal was the 1837 large cent which is in amazing condition for a field dug copper here in Virginia, next target was the Confederate Georgia coat button which sadly did not hold up to the test of time. Occasional flat buttons were popping up here and there. Finally got a very nice reading and popped out this excellent 1773 Virginia Half Penny, this is the second one from this site and both are beautiful due to the very sandy soil conditions. Also pictured are some relics recovered from last week. By far my favorite find from a Union Army cavalry camp was this nice heart shaped Martingale that still retains all the lead back fill. Other digs from last week include a nice ring with shamrock design from a Union army camp, New York coat button,Eagle I coat button and a cut Va Half Penny, do not come across cut coppers too often around here. Congrats on some great looking coins and relics. As you said, that soil must be good.

a plate that was attached to the leather piece that went across a horses chest

Very nice! I've only ever dug one largie that looked that nice... surprisingly it also came from a field.

Great looking relics and coins. Nice quality pictures too. The VA Halfpenny is a stunner.

Both of those LC are sweet. Congrats.

Congratulations that’s a beautiful assortment..thanks for sharing

Those are really nice recoveries, congrats.

There's many a day that I wish all the coinage would look like those 2 great looking ones.
I have one permission that there's 2 sites that provide tokens and coppers as those that you got. The finds really stand up well as it drains so well, and it seems to be the most logical reason.
Had you done this site before with the Deus?

Great finds! Congratulations and thanks for sharing with us!
