Howdy Folks. Went out looking for the owner's of a permission I had but, the old folks passed away. Their children now take care of the property. I couldn't find them so I headed to Lowell Park once again. The skeeters are only getting worse. I had to leave and ended up working the sidewalk construction at the Dixon High School. I was running out of steam but, managed two wheats, 1945 D & 1956 D along with a 1957 Jefferson nickel. Nothing very old. I did get a peculiar little golden coin looking thing. Franklin Life Insurance Company thingy. I was wondering if it was actually real gold for awhile. I don't think so. Must be plated. So being eaten alive by skeeters and digging nasty clad was kind of a downer. Perhaps tomorrow will be a better day. Adios.

That golden token is pretty neat. I wonder if it was an employee reward.

Some rewards for your effort, the little insurance pin/button is different.
There's nothing like trying to detect and the skitters are having a meal on the exposed skin. Cover completely up with clothing and net over the head and one sweats to the point where its unbearable.

It's all good....minus the skeeters. Tomorrows are always there for us lucky ones. GL...

Nice find Kurious. I like that Insurance coin. I see some marks on the back that make it look like it could have been a pin ?

Congratualtions on the fun hunt! :occasion14:

I know what you mean about "counter-productive"...even though you found a few cool odds and ends it's likely not what you were looking for,and that is SILVER. The one thing that's made it so miserable I'll leave in 7 years of hunting is mosquitos. I found a cure for that. It's called Coleman 100%. I believe it's actually 99.9% DEET. A nice coating of that and they won't be around for hours. Do NOT use 25% or 40% or 75%...for my purposes, and that is TOTAL bug rejection,it has to be 100%. Shower when you get home.

I haven't been able to find an image or information on it yet. Probably post it in the What Is It section.:dontknow:

I appreciate the pictures of your hunt sites. It gets harder and harder to find sites and get permission. HH

I reckon so. I am an admitted scaredy cat at asking for permissions on private property. When it comes to public that's another story. I hunt pretty much anywhere public property doesn't specifically state "No Metal Detecting Allowed". Court Houses, Schools, Parks, sidewalk strips, etc. If it's fenced in I don't breach the fence though!:nono: As a tax indentured slave I feel it's my right and privilege to hunt public property since I have to give over half my wages to the system that has gotten the USA into a bottomless pit of DEBT! Oops, sorry for the little rant. I hope you got my point though.:hello:

You keep finding that many pennies, you'll be a rich man at 99 yo!

Good hunt :)
