Couldn't Stop Shakin!

Shakin my head at how all my latest ideas were failing in one way or another. ;D Everything from my aerial not showing how high the elevation of the fields were, and how low it would be near the water, to a place I've actually been before, to sites being on National park land, to some that out right just could not be found, & lastly, and I kid you not, property owned by my detecting bud's brother-in-law.... and he certainly wasn't going to give that up to us! :laughing9: (we didn't say who we were) The good news is (for me) is that I'll probably get there this week with Claddy and Ironhorse (we rarely all get together anymore), but the bad news of course was it did not help Romeo and I on a day we were driving in circles trying to get something good going. That being said, both of us know that tends to be the nature of scouting for a good new site, it's often make it or break it.

On the positive side it was good to see Romeo, and a Romeo that was back detecting like a normal human :laughing9: (reference being made to the last Spring hunt of course) Actually the plan was for both of us to fill our boots with top shelf stuff but as everyone knows detecting doesn't often go to plan. I did not get the super keeper I was looking for but did find two new small sites, dug during the two days was... 13 coins, 49 buttons, musket balls, buckles, etc.... certainly enough to believe I had a chance at a great find, so even though I'm not over the moon I'm content with the shot I had. This hunt sure did knock off many ideas I had, but Ironhorse gets home this week, the Patriot over for a few digs soon, so maybe something real good is yet to come!

What's up Frenchmen! Lots of junk and the worse kind, modern mixed in! Old junk doesn't bug me, it's something you have to deal with, but new junk sucks.

You coming back to hunt the Face-Plant field again this year? :laughing9: Guess it would have to be the Fall with the Spring flying by.

Great haul!!! :icon_thumright:

Re: Couldn't Stop Shakin!

Looks like you had a pretty good hunt to me. I did a lot of research for the weekend hunt and still didn't come up with anything worth posting.

Re: Couldn't Stop Shakin!

Don't worry, the 4-day hunt is going to kill this one. :headbang:

I'm pretty sure it will! We just need that one good field that Romeo and I weren't able to find. I really hope we have a keeper or two after the first day... but 4 full days is a lot of time to work with. Several years ago a buddy of mine would fly down and we'd do a 10 day hunt! (did it twice and was a blast) :tongue3: You should have seen those posts! (especially his.. he dug things we're still looking for!)

I wish we could go on multiple day hunts. Our longest was 2 days. :'( Good luck, Patch!

Multiple day hunts are similar to corking the bat or injecting steroids. Competitions must be fair and, in order for them to be fair, our contests will only consider Day 1 of your multiple hunt marathons. Let's see how good you fellas do on ONE day hunts! ;D

Re: Couldn't Stop Shakin!

A whole lot of shaking going on... :laughing9: Sweet assortment of finds, IP. CONGRATS!!

This weekend I plan to have my hands shakin from a find, and not shakin my head in frustration! We have a pretty good starting point, then like this post it will just be hit and miss. (hoping more hit)

Spread Eagle Tokens -- this is a series that began with an 1813 original that was struck by a Boston merchant who settled in Montreal, and were struck over the tokens of Bristol merchant Samuel Guppy. The originals were not at first well received because of the use of the eagle, an American symbol; remember that the War of 1812 had just concluded. Light weight imitations appeared about 1825 or later and were dated 1813, 1814, and 1815.

But if we add total hours digging it would probably be the same so far.

We'll just tally the finds at freeze up. ;D
