Couldnt dig this up!

I was md'ing on a ball field this afternoon. Got a good sound on this. I think it must be connected to the center of the earth because it wasn't budging. The top, what shows in the pic is a very hard plastic. I could just barely get the sides to lift. I got scared that it could be a gas line so I reburied it. It measures about 6" round.

IF it is very hard plastic more of less something modern like from the 1960s or 70s?

Is there anyway that it could be a "'screw-in " anchor,( looks like the start of a thread on the left side), similar to what they use in power lines, or possibly an anchor to permanently mark the bases.

Sure looks like a screw in anchor with the attachment post broken off.

Looks like a cover for base anchors. Maybe rusted down
