Found this recently near a cellar hole along a local hiking trail about three miles in. The trail apparently follows an old dead road. It appears to be cast brass and when found was stuffed with what appeared to be cotton fibers. The hollow tube is flared at one end. There is a triangular notch along one side along with two parallel hash marks. The two short protrusions on either end (on the same side as the notch and hash marks) have small holes all the way through them. Could this possibly be a ramrod holder or a gun sight? Let us know what you think. Thank you.
