The threads looks a little tight for it to be a fuse. I am not sure of its size but according to the first pic it appears to be a knock-out plug that is used to seal an outdoor electrical box or flood light assembly. Looking at the other pics though I am thinking its not a knock-out plug. Being an electrician and telephone guy I have seen many older homes with older ceiling boxes and some of the knock-outs in these boxes look similar to your pictures. I am not really sure but figured I 'd try. Good luck in your quest for an answer :D.

hi there,it looks like the cap used to hold brushes on an electrical tool, like a drill or grinder. also could be the cap from an air tool such as a rivet gun. just a guess. hope you can figure it out.

HI Sorry Michelle "GAL", but I see bore holes passing through the thinge. However at least You had an idea, I don't yet. sniffff

All that I can think of is some type of pressure or flow reducng unit ?? Perhaps relieving a pressure as it was being removed?

Tropical Tramp

Could this not be off a bicycle to hold the bearings in where the peddles shaft goes through?

Definately seen this before....

God bless

and now for howi through the hat, but it appears to be a pressure valve for a drum or tank of some variety (ie an old oil tank, or oil barrell, not necessarily crude) thread pitch looks about right...

Tightly threaded, must have been used to hold pressure back, possibly a water valve from a hot water heater.
