Copper Rivet thing?

Anyone know what this is? I looks like copper, possibly brass. Also looks like a clover on it. Maybe some kind of rivet?

in that case rivet would be my guess also-- sorryfor changing my mind but its based on the new in person info I must admit the shamrock looking bit on the end had me going --- Ivan

I've found a few of these before. Some still had some leather still attached. I figure they were either for saddle tack, knap sacks, or lead pouches. Here's a few pics of some of them, but none of them have the clover type fold that yours does. Its probably just the way that it flattened out as it was hammered.
