copper cone thing!

hello, anyone have any idea on the thing in the middle?
found it next to a river and the only thing i can think of is a butt cover to a fly rod?
it's been squashed so once was cone shaped!

tinkler, a object when placed with others was pretty and made noise. An native American thing. Usually cone shaped with something to tie them on items as clothing or other stuff. Kinda like a wind chime thing..Made out of what ever metal was to be found.

thanks, as far as i know we didn't have any native americans here! but some sort of bell did cross my mind
maybe an old bite indicator for fishing!!

Makes me think of the tip to a CW Bayonet Scabbard. Its not exactly like the ones I've seen but pretty close. I know there were different styles. The two holes would have been were it was pinned to the leather scabbard.
