Hi all, found this piece on the surface of a rocky tidal inlet, the nearby property owner advised me that visitors from FL scour the area each year, however I pulled lots of targets from the iron around a stone pier foundation.
This is 29 mm, one side shows two Vs on opposite sides of the centerline, a couple symbols or letters near the edge, and a device that resembles a chalice or martini glass :occasion14:

The other side seems to have a rectangular shield or device slightly wider at the top, and Roman #3 to the right

It is rather thin and my first thought would be a late 1830s token but the letters look like something old.

The white material is some kind of marine growth, Thanks for looking, HH everyone.

Bramble, my hat is off to you .
Speedy and intelligent replies to my usually obscure toasted whatsits.
We are now on track for an ID, I removed the white material which I assumed was covering nothing important, (I'm sure you know the old adage about what happens when we assume :laughing7: )
Underneath it shows 'Maine Chapter' my next thought was a Fraternal organization, I come back to post my new info and see you already have that much :notworthy:.
Next I'm on trying to find an exact match which I think will come fairly easily. Thanks Much! Herbie

It is a similar token from the Royal arch Masonic Branch, I'm pleased I was correct in identifying the symbolism as ancient, and an early 19th c Fraternal token with a 150 BC design is a pretty neat recovery from this
'you don't stand a chance' site. (which also gave up silver and gold on the same two hour hunt :)
Thanks again and HH All ! Herbie.

Found a couple examples from other States , none show the 'III' to right of keystone and they both have state below keystone instead of above as this ME example does. I like it :)
