Hi all,

I was at one of my favorite parks a few days ago and I found this button. It appears to have a similar back to one I posted a few months ago, but I can't find the design anywhere online. I also found two wheat cents. If you know anything, please chime in, because I'm stumped! Thanks for looking and good luck.

That's a really neat button! I have never seen one like this. Congratulations on finding such a unique one! Hope you find some info on it!

Some better pics are in store.........the back too. By the name Olentangy you may be from Ohio ??? Welcome to TNET and hope you get it id'd :icon_sunny:

What you have is either a lapel pin or a tie tack. I doubt it's from the military, tho. Good luck.

Thanks for all your replies! Desertfox, I will have to expand my search to non-military items.

Crazyjarhead, I am from Ohio. You may have seen my posts on the Ohio forum. I enjoy reading your posts! Didn't you just move out west?

First glance I thought American Legion lapel pin, looking closer I don't think so, except maybe it could of been an early one, but I don't know if they changed things. American Legion was founded after WWI, 1918 i think. Is there any printing you can read on the face?

it is an American Legion lapel or tie pin. looks like a 'bronze' version... from what I understand, silver versions were for those who were wounded. Other styles included the words "American Legion" around the star.

Its A Discharge Lapel pin from ww1 era and as stated in prior posts the silver is for wonded soldiers returning and brass was for standard discharge
