In the water that is
- have many from land hunts but got my firsts from saltwaters for me today
hit an old Cape Cod beach in the water this morning - have gotten a lot of silver here and old gold in the past
even though Ive gotten indian heads, a shield nickel and seated silver here ...did not expect these today
I was just hoping for modern silver - got a nice hit in deep water ...scooped down and saw a large disc in the bottom
was hoping it might be a half but it looked a little smaller - then thought it must be some sort of medal
gave it a swipe with my thumb and saw the head - which Ive seen many times on land hunts but never from the water
my first saltwater large cent - 1851
near by I got another coin and it was an 1861 indian head - then some recent silver
then I found what looked like a gold washer - thought it might be a brass washer of a recent fishing reel or something
my girlfriend looked at it when I got out and said - "It's stamped"...turns out to be stamped 10k
I worked around as tide started to come in - finding many bronze boat nails and some old lead
got into some rocks - another nice hit - see a blackish large coin in scoop - once again thought it might be a silver half
grabbed it and gave a rub - older style headed large cent - 1819 ...wow my first 2 water hunt large cents
was hoping to find some silver with dates like these - but no
I did get one more indian head - 1866 before I headed in
other coins
silver war nickel -1944P
silver Washington - 1951-S
mercs - 1939 & 1944
2 silver roosevelts
will get back in there and work harder next time - still think theres some more goodies out there

Nice coins real nice .what is that gold it looks flat

That's a damn fine hunt. In the water? On Cape Cod? At the beach? In the summer?

Well now you had a stellar day my friend!

Steve

NICE HUNT !!

it looks like a washer but Ive found a lot of gold over the yrs and I said it looks like its gold
my gal went and grabbed my lupe and said its marked 10k and it is - if it was worn as a ring - its weird
might have been on a necklace ???

Nice coins real nice .what is that gold it looks flat

Wow! The LC's had readable dates! That is impressive, salt water is not kind to coins.
Maybe the gold flat ring was the edge on something like a watch or pendant.

Get yourself out there and find more goodies! Your probably going to come up with something really terrific!

Nice finds. Congrats on the large cents.

Nice fist full of keepers Casper:notworthy:

think the old coins (1800s items) - were lost by people working on an old wharf that was there
you can see I found bronze/brass boat nails/spikes - large grey rectangle item is a lead boat patch (most likely held in place by
some of the smaller nails
there are other 1800 items or pieces of item in there too - some of the lead items are old fishing net weights
have found many around here over the yrs

Great hunt Casper, good to see that you grabbed some old from the waters. Having seen a lot of gold posted up I can't recall a washer looking gold ring posted up before, very cool.

You can definitely tell those babies came from the water. Nice hunt and congrats on the first.

I love that picture of all the finds together. Get the blood flowing. Great job saving those large cents!

a lot of people gonna think those large cents were cleaned - they were both covered in a black powder that with one swipe of the thumb came off
that pic is finds right out of the pouch

You can definitely tell those babies came from the water. Nice hunt and congrats on the first.

the 1819 is actually pretty worn - this is the reverse of the 1851

Im 2 1/2 hrs away from this spot - plus I work and he's retired - so don't look good for me

Good hunt Buddy, Keep them coming..
