I went out with my hunting buddy today to a new site.

I found my 1st Buffalo nickel, no date but it's in the tumbler so maybe enough crud will come off to see the date.

We also hit a couple of parks & I ended the day with $9.44 in clad.

Then when I was cleaning out my trash pouch I found this:

It's a little dive helmet with a piece of chain attached. maybe it was part of a keychain?

I guess you're right TRK. The guy at the coin shop is happy as can be when I buy coins with rolled clad.

Here is the Buffalo after an hour in the tumbler:

Still no date, but I'll take it anyway!

Very nice finds,,, Congrat on your fist Buffalo!!!
A lot of the Buffalos have no-date. They stamped the date on a high spot on the coin...
Very cool dive helmet,,,I'd take that over a piece of silver any day...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

Congrats on your finds bman!

That dive helmet IS neat!

Nana ;)

It looks like a raised mound variety. (1913)
Put a little Ferric Chloride on the date. You should be able to raise the date with that.
It can be purchased at Radio Shack. They use it to etch printed circuit boards. It's not an acid, but it will eat up aluminum and stains fingers badly.

Congrats on your first BN. Looks like you had a real good haul.

Just think, now your $10 closer to financial freedom..... ;)
