Ok this is more of a "Is it worth it" question vice a "What is it worth"....so I spent a good hour or more digging up pieces of this old cook stove. I almost got the range top pieced together but finally gave up. While some of it looked ok other parts were rusted and rotted pretty bad. The place where I found it is in walking distance from my home but the only road is a service road, which I'm fairly certain I'm not allowed to go joy riding on. I did bring home a piece with the manufacturers name on it, it reads: A Geisel MFG CO ST LOUIS
The only info I found was that Andrew Geisel started his business in St. Louis in 1852 making stoves and other stuff...that's about it, couldn't find a pic anywhere of a Geisel stove. Soooo....???....should I try to recover this thing or let it go?

I found more pieces after I took this pic btw and there's still more to be found.

Well, it's nowhere near complete, the top is cracked and broken. But from that base, you can tell that it was a very ornate stove in its time. If it was me and I could get access, I would pull it out for the parts even if I couldn't get it put together. It really is too far gone from the pics but if the front and sides are all there, putting it together wouldn't be very hard. I would have to try it for sure if everything is there. Look up antique wood cook stoves on ebay and then decide.
What I don't see is the fire box, grate, oven door, front, pipe adapter, and a few plates. Most of which can be built or bought except for the actual front of the stove. If the front is there then go for it.

Thanks for the info Reed...I was beginning to give up on this one. There's a lot more buried so not sure what else I'll find. Unfortunately, the ground is frozen solid now and we're gettin' hit with a nor'easter and getting anywhere from 10 to 20 inches or more of white stuff starting Friday....think it'll be some time before I can get out to that spot and do anymore digging. But I've already made up my mind to see what else is down there so I'll be sure to dredge this post up when I do and give it an update.....thanks again.
