I know every year, in the fall, prior to the opening of trapping season, was the start of the Conventions, both on a State & National level. These usually lasted the entire weekend. Here there were vendors (selling new), tailgaters (selling used), demos (showing the "hows & whys"), food, contests for the kids, campfires at night where everyone had some laughs & told their "stories" (lol, which seemed to get "better" with the more beer ingested ). These were alot of fun, as well as a great place to learn.
Is there anything similar in Metal Detecting & Treasure Hunting? If not, I wonder why? It'd be a good thing for dealers, and the manufacturers could have factory reps on hand, to give demos on different models. People could sell/swap their MD items, or someone looking could go "hands-on" with a new or used MD before buying it. It'd give alot of people the chance to actually meet another MDer in their area.
Who knows......could be the chance for Tnet to start a tradition? Maybe have conventions in a few different areas of the country so they'd be fairly close so most could attend, North, South, East & West? Charge a minimal gate fee, camping additional, atleast enough to cover the grounds-expense? County Fairgrounds were usually where they held the conventions.
