Announcement Sept 30, 2007
Contest has ended. I cannot beat this total next weekend as the 8 hour plus hunt at the pace I hunt is too much work...lol
Winners are announced in a reply at the bottom.
Thanks for playing. I hope everyone had fun.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
By request, it's time for another contest!! You can win one of my goodies from my treasure chest!
The last one for me this season. Hope you all enjoy and fun with it. Why am I dooing this?? Because I can! I have been very fortunate finding lots of goodies and I don't mind giving a little back. I hope that's OK
This contest is to guess how many coins I will find in one day of hunting. That's the total number of coins, US and foriegn, tokens do not count. This contest is open to all members of TNet. I will be covering as many woodchip play areas at schools and or parks as I can search in one day starting at sunrise and going until I can't swing and dig anymore. (maybe 8 hours) This hunt is planned to happen this weekend or next depending on the weather and my crazy schedule.
Check out my past postings in "Today's Finds" for an idea of what I doo out there if you don't know me, to help get a an idea of what to guess. I will search at schools and parks that I have never hunted. I will plan out my hunt to maximize my hunt time and potential for pulling a lot of coins. It's a crapshot, so we never know how much we will find. I will only promise to work it hard and find as much as I can (like usual...lol). Hopefully, I can set a new personal record, but you never know, I may have a bad day out there and not get to my goal.
Here's the rules:
This is a contest for total coins found during one day of treasure hunting. Guesses will be accepted until around 6:00 PM on Sept 30th, 2007 and I will post a reply in the thread saying "No More Guesses. Winners To Be Announced Soon!" After that, I will clean and count my finds. The winners will be the folks who guess the closest coin total to the actual total. ONE GUESS PER PERSON. Ties will be broken by the person whom posted their guess first. If someone decides to edit their guess (which is fine by me) before the contest guessing closure, the "Edit" date and time stamp will count for tie breaking. If two or more members guess the same amount, the first person to guess it wins but if it is the first or second place prize, the second person would then be eligible for that next lower prize. (too complicated so please guess different numbers ...lol). Chopped in half coins, corroded partial coins, etc, count as one coin to the total count.
Prizes:
There are three (3)!
Winners will get their choice from the goodies pictured below.
First place winner gets first choice,
second place winner gets second choice,
and the third place winner gets third choice.
I will put the rest of the goodies back into my treasure chest
The prize choices are:
1942 Walking Liberty fifty cent piece
1859 Indian Head one cent "fatty"
a "14K" gold ring with two small diamonds (kids ring approx size 4 or 5)
a "10K" gold filligree ring (kids ring approx size 4 or 5)
a "14KP" (Plumb) mariner and heart cross
a "14K" King Tut pendant
a "925" silver cross
a "sterling" crusifix
All of these are past metal detecting finds.
Here's one more prize choice I decided to add today.
A meteorite from my colection.
It's an 8.62 gram stone, chrondrite specimen on NWA 869 (Northwest Africa)
It has a polished slice on one side that nicely shows the inside matrix.

BONUS PRIZE!!!
If anyone guesses the exact amount (total number of coins found), I will send you a money order for the US+Canadian total clad value that I found during the contest. For instance, if I find 27 US/Canadian coins for a $3 value, you get a money order for $3! , or if I find 1069 coins for a $65.00 value, you get a money order for $65 ... I am giving it up if you are that good! (lucky)
I will PM the winners and request their prize choice and address. I will pay for shipping but I am not responsible if something gets lost in the mail, no replacement prize will be given, sorry. Hopefully, that doesn't happen, but it's out of my control. So far in my other two contests, the winners have all received their prizes within one week of the contest ending. They will be sent via first class US postage unless someone outside the US wins, then I may choose a less expensive method.
So there you go. let the fun begin! Guessing starts now!
Here's some more pics of the prizes.
Have fun.
Good luck to you all and...
UPDATE - SEPT 30th
per suggestion, since I got my 8 hour hunt in yesterday, the contest will be ending today Sept 30th at 6pm EST.
keep smiling!
