There was alot going on in this relatively short period of time throughout North America. it hasn't been often if ever I've seen a thread devoted to the artifacts of this period. I like these items because they are the artifacts of a time of tremendous change. Sometimes I wish they could speak.
Here I have some worked bottle glass a rolled copper spear point and the few trade beads I have found.

Nice examples.. they look like copper French conicals.

My favorite time period are Paleo and Contact, the opposite ends of the spectrum.

All the artifacts shown here are from 3 different Seneca Iroquois sites in NYS, and date from the 1650's to 1680's. Shown in first frame are brass or copper triangles, brass awl, Jew's harp, Onandaga flint Madison triangles, gunflints, bear teeth, shell beads, nice fish hook, all from the Dann Site. Second photo has glass beads and catlinite bead, and a lead letter seal, along with copper tinklers or cones. Last photo shows iron knives and celts from the Powerhouse Site.

Killer finds. Good post. thank you. The two in the center of this photo are Pinellas (arrow) points from that same time period here in Florida.

Thanks, GatorBoy. Those are nice triangles. Here's something I posted just this past December, but I'll put it here because it is Contact Period: necklace of glass trade beads, a shell crescent, and a shell Duck effigy, all from the Marsh Site in NYS, which was a village site of the Seneca in the 1600's. I love the Contact era for the same reason you do. So much going on that we can read about. These Seneca artifacts, for instance, date from the period of the rivalry between French and English, on the cusp of the French and Indian Wars.
