Got to the park this morning and happened to notice bulldozers parked on the hill I just had to what was going on. Bulldozers surfaced about 5-6 inches of soil off the top of an area that produced many old coins in the past this could be my only chance to get in there two minutes into the hunt a V nickel then an almost perfect Barber dime my best find of the day was this beautiful Simons thimble the third one I found in this park.. Those are two beautiful silver finds! The artwork on the thimble is gorgeous. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing.

You were blessed with good timing!

I’ll be the odd guy and ask this question....and I’ve asked this before without much satisfaction....what exactly is the purpose of machinery stripping off a few inches of the surface of a park? Unless they’re installing a ball field or something...WHY is it done? Furthermore, I have NEVER seen it done around here in 10 years of detecting and keeping an eye out for those things.
Nice timing BTW....:headbang:

those finds are in such great shape, big time gratz

IDXM. My experience is that they are installing flat work for one reason or another. A new basketball or tennis court, sidewalks, etc.

Very nice!!! That thimble is really sweet and the Barber is in great shape, congrats :icon_thumleft:

Is that my long lost friend Tony? That thimble and Barber are incredible, and of course there's the obligatory nickel, just so I know it's you. Great finds my friend! See if you can get those guys to do more of that bulldozing for you. Hope all is well buddy!

That’s some damn fine treasure! I’m gonna have to stop looking at these detector finds before I go spend money on another hobby I don’t have time for... lol

That probably explains it, they’re too cheap around here for such things...:laughing7:

Nice barber and thimble
