Had a quick hunt on my lunch break. Found this constables badge. Made by the Williamson stamp company Minneapolis Minnesota only catalog I can find is catalog number 22 and it is not listed there company started in 1880. If anyone has access to any of their other catalogs and could date this for me I would appreciate it. Rang up at 70 on my AT Max was about 8 in deep according to my carrot. Found in the front yard of a home on Franklin Street . Uploading this from my cell phone so hope it works out first time trying this . Beautiful and historic find, congratulations. Constables were officers of the local court, and served papers with limited police powers. Your "generic" badge was once nickle or silver plated, with soft black or blue enamel lettering. The little "dingbats" (decorations) were a nice touch. Local libraries or the courthouse may have old phone books or records of who lived at the house where you found it. It would be cool to discover that a constable lived there, and you would have a name.

My "Badge Hallmarks for Collectors" book indicates that Williamson Stamp Company was in business at 16 No. Third Street, Minneapolis, from about 1930-1950.

Cheers. Sub 8-)

Thanks for the info Sub. They started in 1880 according to their catalog, i found catalog #22 online. i live about 50 miles from where it was made so it is nice local history for me. The local historical society has already heard about it and of course they want it.
