Go into the bank and look at the trash cans behind the teller line and you will see signs like "Do not use for Personal Trash" or similar.

Essentially, the garbage cans are for confidential papers that need to be shredded for privacy protection.

Well, I've come to the conclusion that tellers are afraid to put anything other than bank papers in those trash cans and have resorted to putting their personal trash in the coin bags instead. I find all kinds of trash in these coin bags like gum wrappers, buttons, jewelry, etc...

To help support this theory, please post pics of the strangest garbage you've pulled out of a coin bag or roll.

I'll go first. This was pulled out of a roll of dimes.

I really do not think it is tellers personal trash. Generally bags contain what customers bring in. The tellers, or customers, will just dump what is in their bag, box, etc, into the hopper, including the trash you described.

Your right. That is probably how this gold and silver ring ended up in the coin machine trash bin.

I was being sarcastic. I just wanted to start a thread for people to post the most interesting trash they find in bags/rolls.

In a box of pennies I found the corner of a $20 bill. That's probably the only odd (non coin, or token) thing I've found in rolls. I still have it.

I once found some old Subway restaurant points stamps and what appeared to be a ticket like you get at a church carnival folded up and smashed inside a roll of halves. It was a great box and I figure that the stuff was in the person's coin jar when they dumped it all at the bank.

I recently found a .25 token for bus service in a roll.

guitar pick or worthless pre-new peso Mexican coinage. Found a silver dime in a roll of halves once (had 20 halves in it too) - but that was weird, not trash ;D

found 2 SBAs in a roll last week plus the roll was full i.e. 20 halfs and another roll with a bonus dime ... couple of weeks ago found a toonie i.e. a $2.00 Canadian coin. I have also found a octagon shaped Bermuda half and today I found a Balboa and last week found a olympic comm ..

Got this baby in a bag of halves. Now all I need is to find a needle in anther bag and I can use the loose threads in the bags to start sewing.
