I think your ID is the most likely, simply because there's more toilets out there than small steam engines.
No that would not make a positive ID, only one more likely. IMO this is a positive ID with a matching picture. Oh I agree it resembles a connecting rod BUT I dont think you are considering the threaded set screw in the side. As an engine builder, have you ever seen a connecting rod with a threaded set screw? The connecting rod has to turn on the crankshaft, right?

BTW it wasnt my ID. vhs07 made the positive ID. I just happen to agree with him from my experience working on both toilets as a plumber and as small engine mechanic and shop owner. Nice old engine you have.

If that side set screw is not threaded than Im willing to listen to a connecting rod possibility. But still it would be unlikely. The crankshaft journals would have to be pressed on type as there are no connecting rod nuts, right?
