So today I had an hour to detect and decided to go back to the same site that I have dug many Colonial and Civil War relics. This site is a construction site in Savannah, GA that is just about finished, concrete curbs are in and final grade markers all over the place. This is also the site where I had dug my first Confederate Republican Blues button back in August (posted on TNet). Well, I dug another Confederate Republican Blues Button today! I caught it on video and you can see it on YouTube. But I wanted to go ahead and post it now. This button is rare and the back mark is rare. This one is in better condition than the first one (has the shank).

For those of you not familiar, the Republican Blues were formed in 1808 through the Civil War. After the Civil War they became part of the Georgia National Guard and still serve today as a modular artillery brigade of the Georgia Army National Guard. It is a coveted button representing one of Savannah's elite units in the Civil War.

I added the first 2 pictures after cleaning and preserving with Renaissance Wax.

very nice button , those were some sharp dressed men for sure. Banner vote is in.

Thanks!

Wow. Very exciting. Curious. How do you clean your buttons to avoid damaging them? Brass corrodes so easily.
