I went to area in Charlotte where they are tearing down a few house. The old map indicated that there were house there 130 years ago.

I went on a prospecting hunt to see if I could find anything good. This eagle cuff button, from the Indian Wars period, 1875-1902 showed up.

I went back form a more thorough hunt. Sure enough, this jumpy 70s signal turned out to be a war nickel.

In short order, a V nickel and an Indian appeared.

A couple of wheaties from the teens and another V nickel rounded out the coins. I also go a skeleton key hole, cast brass.

I deep high tone produced this, I scratched away the dirt to reveal a smushed high domed button.

I could barely believe my eyes! it was a NC state seal button, I didn’t know what they were until a couple of weeks ago.

This is pre-war, Scoville backmarked, 3 piece, Militia officer’s coat button.
