complete shoe buckle * 1600's wax matrix seal & a 1723 KGI

half day of work me and Lynne headed up to 2 cellar holes/not a ton of targets but scrubbing through the bar berry bushes at the 1st site. I got a shot gun shell type of signal.kicked the leaves to the side and the target went with the leaves.expecting junk on the surface.what a surprise to pick up my 2nd wax matrix seal.looks like a antlered deer.2nd target 2 feet away at 5 inches was this 1723 KG I copper coin.2nd site gave up a few buttons (lynne dug 2 of them) and i got 2 buttons a brass picture frame,a tiny brass pocket knife frame and a nice complete small childs shoe bucke.

only 3 things were found at this cellar hole.obviously hit pretty hard in the past.the 1723 KG1,the small pocket knife and the wax seal.we may go back and spend some more time at this site.I agree with your assumption that the seal was used into the mid 1700's by whoever lived here
A precious family heirloom I imagine.

Nice going Dave! Thought this was the older post but then saw the date. 2 in 1 year is just awesome!

Nice finds man

I love the early coins and artifacts you dig. Wish I had more colonial spots in my area

Wow great spread of finds. That is a sweeet matrix, congrats

Wow Dave, that deer matrix seal is awesome man. (although your last one was even more incredible) I am hoping to see one of those in the dirt one of these days. It always amazes me in the woods how some stuff can be deep, and others can be on top of the ground. The complete buckle and KGI are sick as well. Nice work getting under those prickers.

As per my PM, they have just speculated on the earliest possible date. The range is 16th C - 1675. That site is not that reliable for IDs, seen lots of errors.

The likelihood is 17th C, with a small chance it's 16th.
