Detector(s) used
Started with a Minelab xterra 505. Then Equinox 600 with stock coil, xl coil and sinper coil depending on circumstances. Now use a manticore.
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Been working a spot a co worker told me about. This was a surprise off main trail. Anyone know age? Update
Pewter spoon bowl, piece of blue and white china and suspender clip came out last night as well. Brass base to ??, silvered brass lid and watch winding key came out over the weekend. Pocket watch and one spoon week prior. Wax seal matrix and one spool bowl were found back in April. Like to show relic history of site.

I had a bayonet in similar condition rust wise. It still had the handles though. I soaked it in evaporust and was amazed at how well it came out and displayed.
Great hunt!
Thank you. I got the British 1907 that was next in line to clean. Combo of oxalic acid, electrolysis and 400 grit with mineral oil on blade. French one is has better handle but not so great blade edge. It's brittle and few pieces of edge are completely made of rust. Guess British one had more rust resistant steel.

Edited to add m1907 in the hole and fresh out. Will post cleaned up French m1892 now posted.

They look great. I have electrolysis have used ACV,naval jelly but that Evaporust is my go to now as it does not eat the metal. This was dug out of a roofless building. I redid the handle. Give it a try on a sacrificial item . You might like it. Nice finds and saves! Thanks for sharing
