Inspired by Whadifind and other tenacious T-Netters, I hit a few new schoolyards and two that I have already hammered. Therein is the irony, as I found goodies not at the new-to-me sites, but at the old-to-me sites!

Today's epiphany was this beautiful sterling silver ring with a large sapphire and two trillion cut (?) CZ ,or other clear, stones on its shoulders. It weighs in at 4.2 grams, and was a solid 84 at 3" deep on the ATPro. It is marked DQ .925 inside. Mrs. Sub will probably snag this one...

Found a total of three rings today, being #'s 29, 30, and 31 for the year so far. I was really hoping the little gold ring with the amethyst stone was real, but alas, it is a nice plated one marked "Avon." :BangHead: Also dredged a wretched "I'm in a bad mood" ring on the way back to the truck. :laughing7:

Completed the "kiddie loot" stash with two "best friends" bracelets found buried in the same hole, and a beat up "J" monogram bracelet, a tortoise pin, a Dragonball pin, a bling hair beret, and a pretty cool Oldsmobile key fob (best I can tell.)

Also grabbed about $6.00 in clad for charity from the schoolyards today. Remember, it ain't "hunted out" until the obese female delivers a tune! Happy Hunting to all and I look forward to perusing your finds. Sub 8-)

Nice stuff. Dry spell for me and muddpunk , plenty of rain but not much finding.

Nice haul!! but not likely a real natural sapphire set in silver. They have been synthesizing sapphire and ruby (both corundum) since the 1920s.

Yep, whenever I go to a place and I start finding signals that just cannot be ignored, and some of them turn out to be good. I KNOW, that whomever had pounded before, were too busy trying to clean all the silver out. They can have it, for all I care. LOL

The ones I still can't figure is how they can ignore a half dollar, in any shape or form of a signal. AND....they do! They're always in a speed hunt! I swear, I saw this one lady detectorist practically RUNNING across the field!! As if the machine would suck the target out of the ground! LOL

If I put my coil to the ground and start getting a machine gun style of hits. I smile. :)

"You did well young grasshopper" Keep it up!

Nice bling . Congrats

Whadi, I took your advice, coupled with my waning energy, and dropped my ATPro into "4WD low gear" and walked very slowly over turf that I had visited before. I swung slowly and when I hit a target, walked in a circle around it with the coil, to check consistency of the readings. It resulted in goodies, so I will continue to use the technique. Sub 8-)

Glad to oblige, Sub! Now, be careful! I gave you that secret technique cuz I figured you were far enough away. Just don't tell anybody in my area, ok? ;)

Nice finds and going slow is the way to go. You can miss a coin or ring standing on edge in the ground going to fast.

I'll typically try new spots with fast speed hummingbird approaches just to get a flavor of the number of targets and frequency. I'm sure my first visit to any site looks very much like the lady speedwalking (but probably not that bad). Then I got back and grid slowly with overlaps. I never bother with a grid from a different direction, because I figure I've got 90% of good targets. I'm sure I miss things, though, but I also figure I'll be back in a year when it's filled up again (and then the second time I grid something, it's at a 90-angle to the first).

While there are "Wrong ways to do it," for the most part, if you're swinging close to the ground, you'll find something. :)

There are "wrong" ways, but mostly, it's just different "strokes" for different folks. LOL Each needs to find what works, for them.

By the by, please keep skimming on the first trip through. I appreciate it. ;) LOL

Very pretty, I hope Mrs Sub likes it!

Congrats on the rings Sub! Well played brother.

Its official Sub, we need to go detect together. I could use that super secret tip you got.

Wow, that's one big stone Sub. :notworthy: I can see you are running on all eight cylinders now. :icon_thumleft: All that bling and only $6 in clad, sounds like you have a jewelry box site like I saw mentioned in an other post. maybe someday I will find my own jewelry box site. :dontknow:

Love the sapphire ring. That's a sweet one! Congrats.
