A friend of mine dropped this by today and asked me if I knew what it was. Not being up on old pistols I told him to leave it and I would see what I could find out.
He found this gun about 50 years ago around a old cotton gin in Russelville, Alabama. He said it was wrapped up in some cloth and he pulled the cloth and it came out of the dirt.
From what I can tell it is a 1851 Colt Navy. I'm curious about the markings on the cylinder. Can anyone help me here? Any thoughts ?? On top of the barrel is says A?? Saml Colt New York City
Thanks for looking,
