Is that a thing? These earrings are marked “blue agate”. None of the photos have been changed other than cropping. All photos were taken with the same settings on my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The first photos that appear blue were taken under fluorescent light in my garage.

The others that appear purple were taken under incandescent recessed lights in my kitchen.

So...is agate an accurate ID? They seem a bit cloudy to be fluorite...

There are a number of gems that can change color depending on lighting conditions and agate's are one of them. Florescent lighting is heavy in blue spectrum and incandescent's are heavy in the yellow red spectrum. Natural light or a good full spectrum light source are the most reliable way to grade color in gemstones. Mixing artificial light with the native color of the stone, kind of like mixing paints, creates the affect your seeing.
