Not a plumbing part-the hole in the horizontal part doesn't go all the way through.

What kinds of valves did they have in colonial times?

Barrel tap, 4th photo you can see the lines in the part that's hammered into the keg, second photo by the base of your little finger is where the spout would be, but it's snapped off.

I think it is a wooden kag tap too, the tap end is striated and tapered, this press in seal marks it as modern as does the composition.

Thanks for all the input-so it's a modern keg tap. Not colonial but still an interesting find.
