Hey, folks, I dug this spigot in the area where my 1791 Spanish one real, King George II coppa, and Colonial buttons were found. Could it be a period find?

Good question. Nit sure they were turning threads like that then. I would say post colonial...... Gas valve?

It's a drain cock (valve) for water. Used on steam engines and later on hit&miss engines. That style was used up to about 1930. Tony

Thanks, guys! You're all a wealth of information.

After I pulled it out of the ground, I thought that the threads would give it a newer date.

Valve looked like it had a plastic or bakelite handle...that would limit it to at least 1940's or later I would think...Colonials were very inventive people ;D

You guys are all super knowledgeable. As payment for your generosity, I would love to take you to this Colonial to early American site, but that would be against The Three Datectateers' club rules. ;D  ;D

We will actually be hitting this area on Saturday and Sunday. Soooo, maybe another 1930's valve will pop out of the ground, along with a few Colonial coppas and Spanish wilvers? :D :D

Here's one that's an air vent on top of an old wood/copper water cooler .
