Hey all, been awhile since posting and after waiting what seemed like forever for a 400 acre hayfield to be hayed and work with my schedule, I got the chance! It was worth the wait! My girlfriend and I started hunting and fifteen minutes into the hunt out comes a french dropped musketball and about fifty feet away another. We were on the hunt! About an hour later I got a great high tone signal mixed with a iron signal at 5.5 inches and chose to dig. Out comes this beautiful silver buckle (1.5 x 1 ") Checking the hole I found the reason for the iron signal. A piece of iron from the same time frame! Checking the hole again I got a signal and looked and looked in the heavy clay and then a 29th regiment pewter button pops out! Checking around the area of these finds five more french dropped musketballs come out! Unbelieveable! My girlfriend and I did high fives! Two more musketballs (British this time) come out before we pack it in and leave for the day. What a great hunt. Anyone with more info on the buckle would be appreciated. Thanks for looking!

That is a beautiful buckle! Looks like your in a great spot. Wish I could help with an I'D but living down south all we have a chance of finding is Civil War relics. James

Very nice finds.... :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumright: The buckle is sub rectangular two piece surely 18th century could be early to mid the way it looks.

That is the best, most beautiful knee buckle that I have ever seen. And it is silver to boot. :headbang: I am voting this for the Banner. :icon_thumleft: The Revolutionary war button is killer as well. Banner all the way, Magoo! :headbang: :hello2:

Big congrats on the GREAT finds...love that button and that buckle is even sweeter! I've found one off the 2nd american Reg't a few years back but differently designed of course...

Congrats on the Rev War era button! The silver buckle is outstanding! It looks like the maker's quality or Town Assay mark stamp, so clean out the gunk in that area and see if you can ID what is there, or repost with a clear shot of the mark if that is what it is. Good chance the buckle belonged to one of the British 29th Regt of Foot Officers, in which the age of the buckle would easily match or earlier.

I second Don's request , that you get us a clear close up of the hallmark - Great find !
Argentium.

Congrats on the "Awesome" Buckle, Button and musketballs, :icon_thumright: !

Banner Buckle Find :headbang: !

Don't need a close up, its the standard silver mark for British Silver (Lion), looks 18th C but that date with no other hallmark info will be hard to narrow, although type research will help.

PS. Its a great buckle :hello2:

Great finds. That is a beautiful silver buckle.
