Hello everyone! A while back I posted a thread in regards to a possible colonial home site I stumbled upon. Well I think its safe to say it is indeed an unknown site...that is until now. I had some expert verification last week when I asked a fellow detector swinger who has many more years experience than I do to tell me his thoughts. Well after that trip he was convinced. He pulled out a few of his own keepers!

The bad news was today was +95 degrees and I braved the elements to try and pull a few keepers out. I stayed for about 2 1/2 hours and called it quits.

The good new is that the area I am finding everything is separated by a fence and on the other side is planted corn. The relics are concentrated in a half circle right up to the fence. I just hit the other side of the fence and pulled out two flats. One is back marked "Standard Colour w/ a Crown and a wreath w/ the number "4" in it).

The cool thing about all this is I have already acquired permission to hunt the corn field when its gets harvested.

The Large Cents are 1817/1844/ and a very toasted early. The 1844 could have been nicer but I cleaned it with water (Never again) My buddy suggested when he witnessed me dig the 1817 to just brush it off and leave it be. Best advice because I do believe it looks nicer and retains more detail. Good thing he was around when I dug the oldest one.

Enjoy and I can't wait to post a new thread in the fall. Maybe time to start water hunting in this weather. I was given an invite and a detector to give it a whirl!

Posted Pics of items dug today with the rest of the finds to give an idea of how much stuff is there from just one side of the fence!

Outstanding digs! hope you find some silver as your hunts continue...

Looks like you've got yourself quite a site there! Those sites don't come around too often so make the most of it and dig em all. That's a great day btw and I love field hunting ...you will do very well. Great stuff and nice condition on the LCs . It looks like you've got some very friendly ground there which is half the battle

Can you show a close up of the cuff links by themselves? Thank you

I want to nominate this for a banner because you found a colonial site and it's obvious you are on a Hot Spot! but I just need something of significance to push me over the hump....

Keep us updated please... :award_star_bronze_2

Looks like a fox, or a dog on the cuffs. Good luck at your new site!

I use the toothpick method (no water) and it works fine. Nice finds!

BTW the cufflinks you dug say TALLIO on them. SWEET find there!

Great finds....wish I knew what county you're digging in, there are bound to be plenty more sites nearby that would give up other great treasures....Dr Dig OWT

I'm sure you already know you've hit a jackpot site there. So many possible treasures to be found. I'm SO jealous!!! Congratulations.

Fabulous! :hello2: :occasion16::wav::occasion16: :hello2:

Maybe if you start detecting that site shortly after dawn you could get in a few hours before the worst heat takes over??? In any case, big congrats! :headbang: Andi

Thank you buddy I love those old cuff links. Not easy to find. Very nice indeed

Super finds and site!

Excellent finds. Congrats on your new site.

Drooling here, such terrific finds! A friend of mine just found a pair of cufflinks just like the ones you found. The 1816 coin does have great detail with the dirt still on it. Tallio means tally ho I think.
