Got out with Rick today and headed back to the field I got my killer buckle at. the finds were again thin but good quality. What was funny was Rick dug a Blowhole button then I dug a French Marine button then he dug a french marine button then I dug a blowhole button. So we both ended up with 2 top quality colonial buttons within 10 min. But Rick didn't stop there and dug up a couple of great coppers as well.

The big shiny object is a livestock bell made from the same material as a Tombac button.

Thanks Dave, I really think that the honey hole here lies in one of the adjacent fields which haven't been mowed or plowed in years. I might go back in the spring after the snow flattens out most of the tall grass and give it a go.

If you know who owns the field... how about asking the farmer to cut it for hay or as an added incentive maybe offer to cover the cost of their diesel fuel to cut the field. :icon_scratch: I'd certainly be willing to offer $30 - $40 to a property owner to hunt their land, I also offer to give them any gold or silver jewelry I might find! I've often found that if I wait till the spring to hunt a field, the window of opportunity is so small before the grass starts to thicken up that you'll often miss it. :dontknow:
