Just a cool day digging artifacts from 1780’s-1830’s.
The croatal bell would have been best find if it was intact. It was big one!
1783 Nova Constellatio copper coin was a first for me.
1837 Phalons hard times token was great shape.
horseshoe must have belonged to a pony of a miniature pony

I think if you do some research on that flat button with the anchor on it you will find that is probably the best find!

You are on a good spot. What's the back of the anchor button look like?

Back of anchor button is in the photo with all the stuff together its the one with the different backing, four holes etc..

Ya I believe your right, that anchor button is supposedly French navy circa 1780’s.
I found a smaller identical one, at same site, and another poster told me this information.

Wow, Steve in Pa is right. That anchor button could be French made Military and Rev War at that? Continental Navy Button possibly.

Wow.

Can't see it that well from the picture, but looks like it could be what is known as a "bird cage" shank, which is definitely French. A close up of your button, front and back, would be very helpful.

These are images of French Naval buttons from the Rev War. These are in Don Troiani's book, Insignia of Independence.
