I found a door hinge today about 10 inches down. It looks hand forged, so I'm thinking it may be from the colonial era. I found it at the same spot where I dug my 1723 Rosa Americana penny. There's no cellar holes in the area, but a colonial strap hinge would confirm my gut feeling that a cabin was located on this spot at one time. Let me know what you think. Is it colonial era relic or modern day trash?

As far as colonial, I would say yes, looks smith made. Much too small to be a barn or or house door hinge?

Thanks, guys! It could have been used as a shutter hinge. It's definitely too wimpy for a door hinge. I'll mark this one as solved.
