decided to go back to the site near the green spectacle site..on the back side of the cellar hole there isn't much room before it's a wet low area.just at the edge near water i got a 72 vdi reading at 7 inches.out popped a greenish disc.last time in this area with Frank i got a almost wiped out mass copper,I really didnt think this coin was gonna be identifiable due to the wet wet muck it was sitting in.targets were sparse so I packed it in.
on the way home I saw a cellar hole on side of rd.stopped at house next door and he owned the property.he said have at it! so much trash you can see some of it in the hole about 2 pounds of heavy gauge copper wire from old electric lines,2 ox shoes, a MACK dog's rump? and some brass scrap.
when i got home i was pleasantly suprised to see my copper was a 1780's Connecticut.hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Dave

You are the MAN. :headbang: I need to quit my job and MD full time to catch up to you. I think youll see 65 before the year is over. Great milestone! :icon_thumleft:

Yep, you're in old copper country. That CT is most likely 1785. See a couple real close ones but hard to match with so little.

that's one that has eluded me.. a draped bust silver.
i'd trade all my coppers (except the chain cent) to dig just one draped bust silver

thanks Dave! them D-buckles get tiresome after awhile.they are like a pulltab when looking for a gold ring.they read in the coin range at colonial sites so..to see one of these come out instead of a large cent kinda bums ya out. I have like 2 shoeboxes full of em.

Congrats on 60, I knew you could / would do it. Good job

Second last pic is cool.

Copper better than many, a lot of toast this year.

2 shoe boxes full of buckles, and a few ox shoes too I bet. Had too many one day had to leave some by a tree to lighten the pouch a bit.

A foot of snow tomorrow could spell the end for me.

What he said!

It also seems like an odd place for a chair! I found this barber chair deep in the woods at the site I found the King Ferdinand Half Reale last week. I wish I had my camera so I could have done a self portrait!

Great finds! Makes me wonder how many big coppers where in a roll, 20? If so you've got 3 rolls, that has to be some kind of record, congratulations. HH
