I have dug some with a single hole off sites that date about 1730-1755, and don't recall ever finding one at a late 1700s site. Whether one hole vs two fits into the time frame at all I have no idea, and I consider them as mid. 1700s but have never really thought about it. I have the Tice dating buttons book and will take a look at some point but I suspect there will probably be a fairly lengthy range.

PS: I think about the 1790s is the latest blowhole buttons date.
