After the decline of Roman rule late in the forth century England plunged into the Dark Ages more commonly known as Anglo Saxon times. The Coin on the left of the picture is a Anglo Saxon Sceatta(penny) of Eadberht Saxon King of Northumbria 737-758 Fantastic Animal right, surrounded by four pellet-in-ring motifs. The Coin on the right of the picture is a clipped Siliqua probably of the Emperor Vallens (not quite certain) reverse Roma enthroned holding spear, notice how it has been clipped to the same size as the Sceatta this was so it could be used in circulation with the Saxon Coins of the Times
