I found this today hunting around an old homestead. Both sides are identical, but only have "10" on them. No date, no country, no writing of any sort. The detail of the item makes me think it's a coin. There's denticles and scallops around the outside circumference and the numbers have horizontal lines embedded in them. It's 29.5 mm in diameter...just slightly smaller than a half dollar. It appears to be made from copper. Sorry for the poor quality photos, but it has a good bit of corrosion on it and I had to sidelight it to get the detail to stand out. Any ideas?

This looks like a Werte-Mark token. They were mass produced in Germany by private companies during harsh economic times. It is my understanding businesses would buy them (pubs, hotels, stores etc.) and assign value to them. Many of the coins I looked up have a business marking on them, they all seem to be in German. There are, however, some unmarked examples that look exactly like the one you found. Try image searching "Werte-Mark token". If there was anybody who came back from the first or second world war and called that place home, or immigrated from the Austria/Germany area, I'd say that's a solid bet on what it is. Nice find!

I think you could be right. The styling of the numbers looks very similar to the images I was able to find. It seems large for a "10" denomination....at least compared to US 10 cent trade tokens I've found, but I don't know what else it could be. Thanks for your help!!
