Thats so wild....Ive found 2 IH my WHOLE time detecting....and you are finding pocket spills of them...WOW

Not as bad a me. I have never found a buffalo nickel. Found tons of Jeffersons, couple war nickels couple V nickels I even found a 1867 "with rays" shielded nickel. Almost ten years of detecting not a single one.:dontknow:

I got 9 indians and a 1897 V nickle outta a 2 foot spot last year. Doubt I'll ever find another pre 1900 ten coin spill but I certianly hope too! Oldest is 1885 and the newest are three 1899's which looked like they were lost when new. I haven't cleaned these coins like I do all indians I've found since and that is by rock tumbling. I did try cleaning them with a hot peroxide bath. You may want to try some hot water and oxyclean. The green tint should still be there but if I were you I'd hit them with patrolium jelly afterwards and get rid of the green. The green is what I want gone. Unfortunatly, copper laying in dirt causes unreversable damage. BTW, I don't have a possible 3-4k cent so claening them is a no brainer. If you do have a 88 over 87, ask a pro.

Oh yeah! The indians haven't been the only coins I have found at this spot!:laughing7: Found couple standing liberty quarters, 7 or 8 V nickels, 1904 half in awesome shape, The indians and Lincoln's, 1867 with rays nickel, a 1876 and 77 seated quarter both in great shape and a 1829 LC. Plus lots of other goodies! Didn't find at one time but over the past years. Now that im on Tnet next time I'm there I'll post my finds! Here is the best pic I could take of the 88'sDSC00905.JPG
Greats finds! I would head back cause there has to be some silver lingering around near by!

Nice coin spill.Congrats.HH.

Sounds like a great site I hope the one I'm on produces like yours has.

They look like they are in great shape, I wouldn't try and clean them, I'd be scared to ruin them. Just my opinion, especially any of them that you think might be worth money. I'm pretty green to all this but might want to get expert advise before ruining them.

Congrats on a great find!

For now im not going to touch them. I like the green patina and I know they can be hard to clean with out taking it off. Tried peroxide bath for a few min on a rough one once. Sure it cleaned up real nice but instead of staying green it turned black.

to bad you don't live close to me those Indian heads are about only thing I'm finding in the field I'm hunting now.

If the green is even and pleasant, leave it, otherwise electrolysis is the only way to go, but you can also ruin it if it goes too long.....

Hey Helix!! Really Neat Finds!! Congrats!! GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!

I agree with not cleaning them Helix...i recently made a big mistake trying to clean a 1790s large cent and removed most detail from the coin....still sick over it! But learned a great lesson the hard way...
