coin roll hunting with bank tellers.

i have been coin roll hunting for a little more than a year. one bank i went to did not have any rolls of half dollars so i offered to buy the loose ones in his tray. there was only five or six and he pulled out one and said this one has some silver in it. of course i bought it. my question do some banks not allow tellers to pick through coins?

i dont know if they do or dont allow it! but i also was at the bank and spoted a large coin at the edge of the tellers coin tray. and i asked about it. it was a Kennedy half and i asked if i could buy it ,she said sure! a strraight up swap!made my day!

Many banks have policies against the tellers picking thru the currency.

Don't believe the people in the banks don't look at the change especially the ones who may have family members that are collectors. My cousin was a vice president of a bank and an elderly lady came in asked if he could help her care in a large jar of change she had, well it was all silver and old. It was her husbands tip jar and she had had it for about 35 years just sitting around. My cousin could have had all those coins but he brought in a collector who appraised them for her and even bought a few himself. Lady wound up getting almost 25k for her CHANGE. Can you imagine what would have happened if some teller got that and her husband was a collector. Oh! the cash value was a little over a $1000.
