Hi folks, first time posting here, just had to share my finds from yesterday. Headed out to an old cellar hole ( far and few behind up here in Canada) and started to swing away.
Nothing inside so i moved to the side, about 3 feet from the path i registered a nice repeatable copper signal. Carefully dug down about 6 inches , and out came a small piece of leather with a small "O" ring on it.
Hmm, went to stand up and thought, ahhhh, better sweep again, and "bang" huge silver sound came through the head phones. Starting to shake i carfully removed a bit more dirt from the hole, and there standing on edge, a 1838 US half.
These are very, very rare to find up here so needless to say i was pumped. I stood up and started to move away , when a little voice says " hey fool , scan the area around the hole",, no way,, but i did ( yep twice i almost didnt re-scan) and the machine started going nuts. In an area roughly 16 inches wide i pulled out 6 halves dating from 1822 to 1844 and 1 province of canada half penny token.
Needless to say, my best find ever, i think i sat in the bush shaking for about half an hour before i could trust my legs to get me back to othe car Enjoy the pics, first few are uncleaned, next few are after a light soaking in warm water.
