I've been reading treasurenet but this is my first post . I bought my first metal detecter about a week ago . My father-in-law is 72 and he told me he lost a dime in the hayfield when he was 12 . After all this time he still remembered the general area he lost it in . It was thrown to him by his uncle and he didn't catch it and couldn't find it . Well today he and I went to the old field and in less than 30 minutes I dug it up at about 4" . Needless to say it brought smiles to both our faces . HH ;D

I'm glad everybody liked the story . Someone mentioned that maybe my F I L would know some good places to hunt , boy does he . After finding the coin he spent about 3 hours riding me up + down old backroads showing me old school buildings , some still there + some where they just used to be . Same thing for old houses , churches , ect . He owns quite a bit of property himself and there are several old house sites + an old store site on his property . I've got lots of hopefully good hunting ahead . I'v got a good camera , just need to take pics + learn to post them here . Thanks All HH :o

That is a very sweet story.......reminded me of Rosie Greer and the Coca Cola kid!

Welcome to the Forum Paul..................looking forward to more great stories!

Happy Hunting,

Great story. Be sure to post again on your next find.

Hey Kent, you oughta go look for that quarter. So what if the farmer tossed it towards you in the early 70s? That does not mean it was a clad quarter....What if it was from 1964 or before?
;)

Love those kind of stories. Sounds like maybe you've got a partner now for your MDing. Pretty soon your FIL will have one and you'll both be out there!

Welcome!
