coin like object with double washington head

I found this today at a house built in tje 1800s i thought it was a coin until i cleaned it off. It has a hand drilled hole and has washingtons head on both sides and says george washington 1st president usa and i think 1769 is it some kind of presidential token or what? If anyone can help id appreciate it
