Is there an android app that someone could recommend for a newbie like me that doesn't know about all of the older coins?

There is a free one called U.S.Coin Collector...if I remember correctly it helps identify U.S. coins and may even give a rough value according to grade....I have been collecting coins seriously for a year and a half now and I used to go with the magazines but now I only go by the current year Whitman red book....I see all the dealers at coin shows using that and its like the bibke to them ...the redbook for 2014 can be bought online like ebay or amazon for under 20 bux and is awesome not only does it give you pricing on different grades it shows oictures and gives information such as weight and mintage etc....another great book by whitman is the Official American Numismatic association grading standards for US coins...I prefer spiral bound so they can lay open flat and not close when I am using them....Happy Hunting hope this helps.
