Actually, it's a 5-para coin. What appears as a circle in the middle of the obverse is the Arabic number 5. The image on the reverse is called a 'tughra'. There were 36 sultans and 35 tughras; calligraphic monograms of each sultan's signature.

date range 1839-1859

Agreed it’s 5 para not 1 para. It’s also not “date range 1839-1859”. The date below the denomination is for the Islamic (Hijri) calendar year 1293, which puts it between 1876 and 1879 on our Western calendar. The tughra is for Abdul Hamid II (Abdülhamid II) who ruled between 1876-1909.

OK so do we think this is it? It says Egypt (1845-1853)

No. It's this one (Islamic year 1293, as I said above):

Not a dug coin. Found this among some old foreign coins given to me by a relative. My guess is Israel or Egypt but I will defer to the experts. It's slightly larger than a nickel but much thinner. Thanks all!
Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

This is an Ottoman coin issued in the year 1293 AH, i.e. 151 years ago. Unfortunately, the name of Al-Sltan is not clear.
