Dug this in VA. 1940 motel, but the lot is older, in town. I have found a few 1900's coins near by.
It measures 28 to 29mm. It appears to be a little thicker than normal. Larger than a quarter. I am soaking it in olive oil to see it I can get the crud off. I am not sure it is copper, I scratched it digging it up and the scratch appears almost silverey but it has to be copper, just done know...

Oh..it doesn’t change the coin..A photo of the rubbing itself while still on the coin with light shadowing of any image emerging. Sorry I wasn’t more clear.View attachment 1638790 Good persistence.Hopefully the oil bath will help!
I tried it, I don't think I did it right, or there is just nothing there. I am going to keep it in oil.

The coin is in tough shape but it looks like some lettering is trying to surface and the middle image looks like some design is working its way up. It looks like a hard object was used to make the impression leaving a few lines in it. Good beginning. Perhaps if you try again with new foil and just use your fingers and keep pressing in all directions..center to outside, outside to inside, across and up and down really forcing the foil against any raised area it might show more. You will see it better in person as the photo doesn’t capture the entire image with the light play but you did a good job with *your* photos! In any case, looks like a neat old coin. Imagine all it has been through! Thanks for sharing.

My grand daughter says she can 1808 on it, I can't see much, but I do believe it is Classic Head. What do you think?

I can’t really say, but I am guessing it is some old copper coin! I tried to enhance your photos but can’t really make out details. Thanks for posting follow up. Maybe someone else will be able to tell.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1539051813.911684.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1539051827.294021.jpg
