I dug this today on a 1750's/1760's fur trade site in Ohio. As far as coins go, the site has produced a KG II. The object here is 19mm in diameter. Thought it was a penny when I pulled it out of the ground. I'm hoping someone can identify it. The one side looks completely blank which makes me wonder if maybe it's not a button front. Better pictures below.
Thanks,
Swartzie

The one picture makes it look like the reverse of an Indian Head penny. :dontknow: :icon_scratch: Is there a bust facing to the right?

can you get any letters off of that coin to help us ?

Unfortunately, I can't. I've looked at it through a magnifier and it makes it worse to see any details on it.

Sure looks like a wreath on the one side.

It almost looks like a Rosa Americana Penny. See below. Also could be a half cent.

http://www.coins.nd.edu/ColCoin/ColCoinText/RosaAm.1.html
1722 Nelson 5 Rosa Americana one penny

Obverse: GEORGIUS . DEI . GRATIA . REX .
Reverse: ROSA . AMERICANA [five pointed rosette] UTILE . DULCI . 1722 [five pointed rosette]

Weight: 122.5 g (7.94 grams) Diameter: 26.8 mm

Comments: This is one of ten varieties with two rosettes in the reverse legend and a stop after REX on the obverse, listed as a group as Breen 116. In this example the stop after Rex is close to the bust.

Provenance: Donated to Notre Dame in 1887 as part of a 2,300 item coin collection (see: The Notre Dame Scholastic, vol. 21 (September 1887) 45.

It looks like it could be a Civil War token.
