That's a great dime find!
I try to resist the urge to read the dates on silver coins just because silver is so easily scratched and those scratches detract from future enjoyment of the find. But I like to use wheaties as indicators, so I'll pull dirt from them. Last week, I found a spot on an eroded beach with wheaties. If I had not bothered to identify them as wheaties, I might not have spent as much time in that spot and could have missed the three Merc dimes I found mixed in with the wheaties.
