I found this Coca-Cola 5 Cents Token a couple of days ago. This token was down about 8" and had a thick green patina on it. It came from an old home site that has been gone for a long time and I have dug a few old coins from the late 1800's to early 1900's. I had never seen a token like it and wanted to get some more info. I have not been able to find another one like it on the internet. I sent an email to the President of the Coca-Cola Collectables Club. He emailed me back and said it was a "fantasy" token meant to look old and probably made in the late 60's to early 70's. I really don't think this is a spoof token made to look old, it has the characteristics of an old "good for" token to me. So I wanted to see if any of the experts here could shed some more light on this token. Thanks, David

Hey thanks everyone! I was sent a link to photos of different tokens and was told I could find it in this book Petretti's Coca-Cola Collectibles Price Guide and it would be under fantasy tokens. I keep seeing the same tokens made by L.A. Stamp that are the fantasy tokens. I have still not found a token that matches mine. Here is the link

And here are some photos of the ones I keep finding.

Nice token for sure, it looks right for being in the ground for many years, nice add to any collection.

I think it's real and not a fantasy one. Heck you found this at an old site, it shows the right patina, and you found it deep in the ground. Hopefully you'll get a real expert on here to verify it though. Great find. - Chuck

I'll get to the bottom of this I have a coke collector on eBay

Hey thanks a lot for doing that. I look forward to seeing what he says.

looks great to me. aging/pitting/patina/crust, detected deep, why would anyone think it's fake?

Yea when you get something verified you should go to more then one person because one of them might not know nothing lol. You're welcome I am as curious as you about the coke token.
