Eyeballed this while metal detecting I picked it up thinking it was some sharp glass then did a double take on seeing the chipped stone. One of my friends thinks its a possible Clovis , don't know that much about points myself.

Wow! Another amazing Clovis point posted here!!! Congrats on finding a piece of rock used by the first humans to ever settle in North America, 10,000 years ago or more!!!

Looks like a Paleo age point to me as well. Can you tell us if the base, and lower sides of the point feel like they have been carefully smoothed to take away the sharpness that the upper edges have? Really nice point you found, many congratulations!

Can you take some close ups of the base? It might make identifying the type a little easier.

Another amazing find if Clovis. Ive never found anything with a flute on it but many with a stack in the middle that hasnt been removed.

thats awesome....cool shape too...def week of the clovies back in 15...lol

Here is my attempt to photo the base closeup.

When I run my finger across the bases bottom I don't feel any notable drag, maybe that qualifies as smooth ?

What area of the country?

Southern Illinois, think we are considered to be in Mid West part of U.S. I know of people that point hunt all the time out here but my eyes are not good enough, I have to get down on bended knee or lay down to see the ground good. I was on my knees when I found this point it was next to a half of a square nail that was mostly rusted away.

Very nice find. It looks like the base is ground and it definitely appears fluted to me also.

Thanks for all the replies they are much appreciated !

:coffee2:

I voted BANNER (although under my work username, Kindle Farmers). I hope to see it up top soon!

After seeing the other photos there is no doubt that it is a Clovis. That is a great find congrats.:notworthy:
